Sister Ann Marie McAndrews
Meet Sister Ann Marie McAndrews

I am the oldest of six children: five girls and one by. I lived my early years in Belmont, MA, where I attended the Josiah S. Kendall school through grade 5. We moved to Dorchester, and I attended St. Gregory from grade 6 until graduation from high school. I entered the Sisters of Notre Dame on august 7, 1944. After first vows in January of 1947, I began my teaching career in parish elementary schools: Somerville; Andover; Peabody; East Boston; Exeter, New Hampshire; Dorchester; Methuen; Brighton; and Waltham. I was principal in St. Mary, Cambridge and O.L. Presentation, Brighton. I received my BA in education from Emmanuel College and a master's degree in counseling from Salem State College. In 1974, I spent a year in Rome in a theology program. Upon returning from Rome, I was a guidance counselor in St. Charles elementary school in Woburn and in St. Mary High School in Lawrence. I became certified as a Director of Religious Education and served in that capacity for five years at St. Patrick in Milford, NH and eight years at Saint Francis of Assisi in Medford. I am now in my 10th year here at St. George, and although I have enjoyed everywhere I have ministered, Saint George has been very special to me. From day one, I have felt welcomed and supported. I hope I have been as welcoming and supportive to our many new people who have joined our wonderful parish. Since this will no doubt be my last place of ministry, I will always have fond memories of my years among such wonderful people.
