St. George Welcomes Father Ben Latran! The news of Father Ben Latran's joining St. George marks a wonderful way to begin the summer! Father Ben officially joins us on June 3 and we will welcome him officially this Sunday, June 8 after the 10:30 Mass in the Lower Hall. A Note From Father Ben "I was born and brought up in Vietnam. In March 1989, I escaped Vietnam by boat and spent the next two years in two different refugee camps in Malaysia. In February 1991, I was accepted to come to the United States. However, before I arrived in Boston, I had to spend another seven months in a refugee camp in the Philippines to study English...
"My first home in America was in South Boston. One week after my arrival, I was able to continue my education at Cathedral High School in the South End. After graduating from Cathedral High, I continued my higher education at St. John's Seminary in Brighton. I graduated from St. John's Seminary College of Liberal Arts in 2000, and then went on to St. John's Seminary School of Theology...
"On May 21, 2005, I was ordained by Archbishop Cardinal Sean O'Malley at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, and was sent to serve the people of God at St. Brigid/Gate of Heaven Parishes in South Boston...
"I am very grateful to Archbishop Sean O'Malley for appointing me to serve the people of God at St. George Parish in Framingham...I know St. George is a great parish, and I am looking forward to being with you."
We are looking forward to it too, Father! |
